Dr. Jan English Lueck is a Professor Emerita of Anthropology at San José State University and a Distinguished Fellow at the Institute for the Future. She has been the Past-President and Chair of the Southwestern Anthropological Association and the Past-President of the Society for the Anthropology of Work. English-Lueck combines research and practice to improve public awareness of critical issues in the urban West. She has published several ethnographies on Silicon Valley, as well as books on China and alternative healing in California. She has a forthcoming book, Playing with Fire, Reworking Silicon Valley, on the connections between Black Rock City and Silicon Valley.
